Attorneys of Luis Velázquez Alvaray, former justice
of the Constitutional Court, Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ),
claimed that the Directorate for Intelligence, Security and
Prevention (Disip) is "persecuting and intimidating" the former
director of the Judiciary Steering Committee (DEM) and his
family.
Since June 8th, when the National Assembly removed Velázquez
Alvaray from his position, there has been no word on his whereabouts.
On Monday, his lawyers would not disclose the place where
Velázquez Alvaray is, but did argue that Disip is monitoring
the house of Velázquez Alvaray -also a former lawmaker-
and his family, both in Caracas and southwestern Barinas state.
They have even received threatening phone calls that their
assets will be seized.
Velázquez Alvaray's attorneys insisted that a court
issued a bench warrant against the former justice.
